Camping gourmet style

Part of the joy of camping in a camper trailer is being able to prepare, cook and eat meals in the great outdoors. Our Offline Domino Camper kitchen is well set up to make this an enjoyable part of our journey around Australia. It’s also important to both of us to maintain a healthy, balanced diet, using fresh, seasonal produce wherever possible. Camp cooking doesn’t always have to be about tinned baked beans and over-cooked sausages! We want each meal to be delicious, nutritious and an enjoyable experience to prepare and share together.

Here’s my camping adaptation of a favourite lunch-time repast: Waldorf Salad.

This contains lettuce leaves, a thinly sliced red apple, chopped celery mixed with a dressing of 2-parts Greek yoghurt and 1-part mayonnaise plus a teaspoon of lemon juice. Topped with diced cooked chicken, some soft blue cheese and a sprinkling of walnuts. Deliciously refreshing!

The Offline Domino Camper Trailer kitchen contains a large stainless steel food preparation bench, 3-burner gas cooktop with gas already plumbed in, a large pull-out pantry drawer, heaps of storage space for cutlery and kitchen equipment & gadgets, a 95 litre fridge/freezer, and a sink with hot and cold running water. It’s compact enough to make food preparation easy and efficient whilst large enough to store goods and have plenty of bench space to work with. It makes outdoor cooking so much more fun! To complement our kitchen, we are also carrying a portable Weber Baby Q barbeque for roasting, baking and barbecuing.
